Greetings from 9000 feet,
You may have heard about our less than average snowfall this year. Unfortunately that means the rafting season will be shorter. In consideration of that we are offering a "Prime Rafting" discount. You may stay in one of our great vacation homes for 10% off the regular rate in June while the water is still high (except StarVue). Additionally our rafting partner AVA will give you 10% off your trip. Click the Black Wolf link above to see the inventory of great homes,reserve and click through to AVA;
August boasts one of the great events of the year here: The USA Pro Cycling Challenge August 22 and 23. The race will be going west over Independance pass on Wednesday and east on Thursday. Come stay in one of our great homes for the best seats on the route.See you this summer,

The Friends of Twin Lakes will have a meeting on Saturday August 13th from 9am to 10am at the Twin Lakes Dance Hall (red building on west side of 5th St / co rd 26, 1/2 block up from general store), to elect officers for the organization. please bring a friend or neighbor who may have interest in the community, lake creek valley or wish to gain a better understanding of plans the Forest Service &/or Lake County government & fire services have which may impact the area. fresh input and ideas always welcome!
Here's a copy of the e-mail that went out announcing the first general membership meeting. Please be sure and let them know if you will be attending the gathering.
Hello Friend,
The application for the Friends of Twin Lakes 501c3 should be in the mail any day! We have a dozen or so voting members right now and if you haven't joined yet please let us know and we can get you an application.
Our first general membership meeting will be Saturday morning July 2 at 9am. We will be meeting at the old fire station now called the Certs building or possibly next door on the picnic tables if it's nice out. Bring sunscreen just in case.
We would love to have as many members as we can get so we are asking everyone to "bring a friend to the friends". If you know of anyone who might be interested in signing up either as a voting or a non-voting member please bring them to the meeting on the 2nd and let's all get acquainted.
We will be exploring the two major issues we think, fire protection and working positively with the Forest Service.
Please RSVP so we know how many donuts to buy.
See you then,
The Friends of Twin Lakes
to introduce the new Friends of Twin Lakes organization. Some of us have been working very hard to put together a formal organization that would involve a 501 non profit so that we can obtain some credibility in the eyes of Lake County and the NFS.
A draft bylaws, which are open to some discussion and adjustment, is available for viewing on through Google docs Please call Tom to receive a link to the site via e-mail. Tom sent the mission statement earlier, so let him know if you missed this and want another copy. We will also talk about appointing some temporary officers and collecting membership dues. We hope you can make it. We want everyone in the valley's input and participation. You may call Tom with any questions. Tom Driemeyer 970-389-6123 .
3/12/11 - town potluck where the Friends of Twin Lakes will explain what we are trying to accomplish - Please join us.

We had a great meeting of the Friends of Twin Lakes on Saturday. Next meeting is Saturday January 29th at the Dance Hall at 10 am - everyone welcome...Pan Ark (north and lake sides!), Gordon Acres, up the valley (what is that area called?) and the Village. If I missed anyone/any area let me know. Any questions contact Larry Marcum or Tom Driemeyer (emails are included to everyone I have)
We also had a GREAT New Years Eve Potluck, about 55 people attended, locals and guests. Thanks to all for the wonderful food and to Tom for doing a perfect job on the prime rib. If you missed it you missed a fun time, especially when MaryLee and Carl started to dance!

We get together, bring some project we may be working on and spend time with others from the area. S&B runs in the winter only (after the Pass closes) and gives a chance to catch up with each other and do some of those things that you never seem to have time for otherwise. If you live in the valley, please bring your stitching, mending, recipe sorting, scrap booking or what ever needs a bit of attention and join us.

This Saturday at 1:00 we have Mike & Cathy Stewart from the Wildrose Kennels coming here to show us how they work with Labs (the dog). http://uklabs.com/index.php
Some of the things they will show us are how to get a dog safely in a kayak, how NOT to have your arm pulled off when walking your dog and how service dogs can help folks that have diabetes among health problems. You can bring your dog if he will behave otherwise let him stay home (please?).
The area just west of the info center looks like it would be most comfortable if it's hot and sunny, if the weather is not cooperating I will see if June still has the key to the Dance Hall since Dunc has offered it to the Village for events.
Let me know if you are coming so I can give them an idea of what kind of group to expect but don't worry if you don't know - just come on down.
Also if you know of a group that would like to do this type of thing contact them and see if we can set up another fun Saturday!
See you there,
Kendra
Thanks for another great day at the
4th Annual Community Yard Sale
And
Town Picnic – after the yard sale
Saturday May 28, 2011
All are welcome to set up a table or trailer along the side of the highway starting by the Nordic Inn. We had a great turnout last year for sellers and buyers, heard of some deals for both sides!
The picnic will held up at the CERTS building (the old fire station) on Lang. Bring a dish – we’ll have the BBQ going and see the folks who were away for the winter/vacation! Take a tour of the facilities and meet your local EMTs and the board of the new “Friends of Twin Lakes” non-profit organization.
We look forward to a sunny fun day.
